Support for researchers at Uppsala University and Region Uppsala
UCR is part of the research infrastructure available to researchers at Uppsala University and Region Uppsala.
To learn more about available support, see the functions for clinical research listed below:
- Research infrastructure at Uppsala University
- Research and research support at Uppsala University Hospital
- Clinical Studies Sweden
Through funding from our main partners, UCR provides dedicated support for researchers based at Uppsala University and/or Uppsala University Hospital/Region Uppsala.
Most of UCR’s work is project‑funded and offered at cost price for academic researchers. The funded support includes advisory services, access to selected infrastructures and reduced costs for biostatistical support.
To get the most value from our support, we recommend that you contact us at an early stage, ideally when preparing your funding application.
Advisory services
Book an advisory meeting to discuss questions such as:
- study design, sample size and study protocols
- statistical analysis plans
- regulations for clinical trials (medicinal products and medical devices)
- contact with authorities and applications
- data management plans, including selection of EDC and CRF
- registry data accesssite contacts and agreementsdata quality assurance, including monitoring
Advisory services are funded and free of charge for researchers at Uppsala University and Region Uppsala.
If additional practical work is needed, such as statistical analysis, programming, database development, monitoring or project management, we can provide a cost estimate.
Reduced-cost biostatistical support
Biostatistical expertise is in high demand.
Through funding from our main partners, UCR offers biostatistical support at a reduced hourly rate for researchers in Uppsala.
Advisory services are funded, while additional work is charged at a reduced rate for researchers at Uppsala University and Region Uppsala.
Systems for data collection and studies
UCR provides access to systems and platforms that support data collection and the conduct of clinical studies.
REDCap is an electronic data capture (EDC) system used for academic studies. Basic guidance and support are available through funding from our main partners. Since 2025, a GCP‑validated version is also available in Uppsala for clinical trials of medicinal products and medical devices.

CTIS
UCR acts as administrator for studies sponsored by Uppsala University or Uppsala University Hospital. We support the preparation and registration of new applications in CTIS and provide researchers with access to their applications and submission to authorities.
UCR can also review application documents, identify missing information and provide guidance on required content

ClinicalTrials.gov
UCR administers the ClinicalTrials.gov account for Uppsala University and provides login access for researchers who need to register studies.
All clinical trials and observational studies with Uppsala University or Region Uppsala as sponsor must be registered in ClinicalTrials.gov or CTIS, depending on the study type and regulatory requirements.
Clinical trials registered in CTIS do not need to be registered in ClinicalTrials.gov, while other studies may still require registration. Medical device studies must currently be registered until EUDAMED becomes fully operational.
